ABOUT

Stephen M. Jackson

Stephen M. Jackson was born in New Haven, Connecticut into a family of rich historical heritage, whose ancestors encourage and inspire this artist today.

By age 14 Jackson was living in St. Croix, Virgin Islands where he found a spiritual connection to his familial roots, the sea, the land and its people, which helped shape both his philosophy on life and the subject of his future artistic works.

Jackson is a full time self-taught artist, but his technical skill and focused detail on his art undoubtedly spun from his years of experience as an architectural and civil engineering draftsman in the Virgin Islands.

Residing in Southern California since the mid eighties, Jackson created his own designs for screen printing producing an internationally popular catalog of shirt prints inspired by Caribbean culture and Reggae music.

Currently Jackson creates life like portraits, fine art and paints public murals. The artist enjoys teaching and has lent his time, skill and gentle guidance to all ages.

The dreamlike reality of Jackson’s paintings expresses his intimate connection with the ethereal and the natural world, the beauty around us.
